RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performs customer service activities for the Library, including processing and routing materials, issuing library cards, and collection of fees.

• Assists customers with use of Library equipment, print resources, technology, and online resources.

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the IT Manager, the Systems Engineer/Administrator is responsible for the design, installation, administration, support, and optimization of servers, network infrastructure, software, monitoring tools, virtualization and telecommunications. They are responsible for data center activities, user-facing network solutions, and network services. They will identify opportunities and design solutions, configure and implement devices and software, and maintain and provide break fix for the existing equipment and services in both project and day-to-day activities. 

The successful candidate is responsible for the following:
• Provide support for the Integrated Library Solution (ILS) system and all integrated components.
• Manage and provide technical expertise for all Microsoft 365 applications including Exchange, Azure AD, AD connect, Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint.
• Provide centralized management of the Library’s enterprise servers, both physical and virtual.
• Maintain Microsoft Windows servers and Cisco network equipment. Install, configure and troubleshoot servers and network equipment.
• Administer virtual server infrastructure (i.e.  hosts, storage and network configuration) and SaaS solutions with the goal of maintaining highly available systems. 
• Administer data storage solutions, both on-prem and cloud based, in support of mission critical operations.
• Manage and maintain documentation including error logs, equipment inventory and warranty information.
• Maintain and administer perimeter security systems such as firewalls, routers, content management and IPS/IDS and establish best practices for security procedures.
• Identify, coordinate, schedule, and monitor daily backup systems and procedures.
• Provide assistance in software distribution to computers, mobile devices and servers, both manually and using mass deployment tools.
• Research the latest hardware, network, storage, virtualization, databases, security solutions and cloud computing for the purpose of recommending new systems for improving service delivery.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Windows Server 2008/2012/2016/2019/2022, MS Active Directory/LDAP, Group Policy, MS Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). 
• Experience managing mobile devices using a Mobile Device Management (MDM) Solution similar to MS Intune or AirWatch. 
• Strong communication skills when working with all levels of Library personnel as well as outside vendors and community members. 
• Ability to promote standardization across all solutions and services to lower the Total Cost of Ownership of the Library’s IT stack. 
• Proficiency in general security principles, theories and practices. 
• Ability to analyze problems and implement solutions.

Education, Experience and Qualifications
• High School degree or equivalent required. Associate’s degree or above preferred.
• Seven years of related and progressively responsible professional level administration and systems experience in a professional environment.   
• Seven years of experience installing, maintaining and supporting Windows Sever 2008 and above 
• Three years of experience administering and managing a Microsoft 365 suite of services including Exchange, Azure AD, AD Connect, Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint. 
• Three years of experience administering a virtualized server environment. 
• Three years of experience administering an enterprise telecommunications solution (Preferably MS Teams). 
• Experience with common network services: AD, DHCP, DNS, S/FTP, HTTP/S, RADIUS, RDP, SSH, and VPN. 
• Experience administering a professional environment using Configuration Manager (SCCM) and WSUS or similar management tools. 
• Experience administering Windows 7/10/11 in an enterprise environment. 
• Experience with QOS, VLANS, WLANS. 
• Experience managing enterprise-based end-point-protection such as anti-virus, malware and EDR solutions. 
• Experience in application and image deployment methods. 
• Advanced knowledge of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity process design, implementation and governance. 
• Strong enterprise architecture design and implementation skills; and demonstrated strength in security and best practices. 
• Experience with Network switches, routers and firewalls.
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+.
• Experience administering Microsoft Teams or Cisco Call Manager.
• Experience designing, developing, and working with various types of databases, Including; Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Anywhere, MySQL and/or Access.
